You need to list down all the process and show how one process relate to - another process, so that other colleague or stakeholder may understand the business workflow easily and clearly.
This is the foundation of quality improvement.
You can't improve, if you don't know what is to be improve.
You need a more precise method to identify "what need to be improve".

This Flow Charting is important for us to view what will happen on future IF we decide for a important decision. A risky Experiment that may result a bad consequences can be seen through flow charting.
